The Newnan Ballet Theatre

-Dancers should be warmed up & ready to start dancing full out at the audition start time.

-KKS will open 30mins before the audition time for in person registration & self warm-up.

-Dancers auditioning for both KKDC & iKAHNic Hip Hop Crew do not need to fill out registrations for both. The same form will be used for both auditions.

-There is no audition fee.

-Dancers should be physically able to complete a full dance audition.

-Bring your own re-fillable water bottle or purchase a KKS Bottle in person.

-No observations will be allowed.

-Cell phones are not allowed. -Dancer resumes & headshots are not required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

-Dancers should be high-energy & have a positive attitude presenting their best selves.

-Dancers should have a knowledge of dance technique for the competitive dance company(s) they are auditioning for & be open to learning new things.

KKDC AUDITION PROCESS

-Dancers can expect across the floor progressions including jazz walks, a turn sequence, a high-kick sequence & a leap sequence.

-Dancers will then learn a short jazz combination of 4-8 8cts to perform in smaller groups if necessary.

-Dancers will be allowed to perform any specialty tricks or tumbling at the end. Not required.

-No cuts will be made at the audition.

iKAHNic HIP HOP AUDITION PROCESS

-Dancers can expect to start with conditioning exercises.

-Dancers will then learn a short hip hop combination of 4-8 8cts to perform in smaller groups if necessary.

-Dancers will be allowed to perform any specialty tricks or tumbling at the end. Not required.

-No cuts will be made at the audition.

KKDC AUDITION

• DRESS CODE FEMALES: HAIR - Must be pulled back into a secure bun or ponytail. No lose hair. ATTIRE - Sports bras, leotards, tight fitting tanks, high-waisted dance shorts (no cheerleading shorts), leotard & jazz pants can be worn. Skin Tone Tights must be worn at all times. FOOTWEAR - Stretch Jazz Boot.

• DRESS CODE MALES: HAIR - Must be pulled back away from the face or a secured ponytail for long hair. ATTIRE – Black leggings or tights and any solid colored fitted t-shirt. Bike short or basketball short maybe worn. FOOTWEAR - Stretch Jazz Boot.

iKAHNic HIP HOP AUDITION

• DRESS CODE FEMALES: HAIR - Must be pulled back into a secure bun or ponytail. No lose hair. ATTIRE - Comfortable but fitted athletic clothing may be worn. No regular denim or cheerleader shorts. Tights must be worn if shorts appear to be too short. FOOTWEAR – SNEAKERS or appropriate active shoes. No sandals, croc or open back or toe shoes.

• DRESS CODE MALES: HAIR - Must be pulled back away from the face or a secured ponytail for long hair. Hats may be worn. ATTIRE - Comfortable but fitted athletic clothing may be worn. No regular denim or cheerleader shorts. Tights must be worn if shorts appear to be too short. FOOTWEAR – SNEAKERS or appropriate active shoes. No sandals, croc or open back or toe shoes.

-Once ALL KKS Locations have completed their auditions, we will notify each dancer regarding their audition status within 7-10 business days via text message or email. All communications will be sent to the email/phone number provided on the audition registration form.

-Information will include if the dancer will or will not be invited to join one of our award winning competitive dance companies, required classes or recommended classes, financial commitment & the acceptance form.

-If you are chosen to join one of our competitive dance companies, you will be required to accept membership by Aug 1st or you will forfeit the chance to join for that season.

-Please do not contact KKS regarding audition status before the end of our deliberation period of 7-10 business days.

We do understand life happens & we would never want an excellent young dancer to miss out being part of this great competitive dance company.

Options for those that can not make this in-person audition:

1. Look at another studio location's date & audition there. Dancers may audition at any KKS Location for any KKS Location. There is no fee for any in-person audition.

2. Text Us to find out about a Video Audition Submission. Contact the KKS Location you'd like to audition at for more details. There is no fee for any video audition submissions.

3. Text Us to schedule a Private Audition. Contact the KKS Location you'd like to audition at for more details. Private auditions are $65 & last about 45mins. Private auditions are subject to availability.

In person auditions are always the best & we HIGHLY RECOMMEND. They provide the dancer a chance to show personality and send that energy. Your chances of joining are not any less through video submission or private audition.
